School Student Non-Discrimination Policy

E-mail Print
Our Lady of Guadalupe School,  mindful of its mission to be a witness to the love of Christ for all, admits students regardless of race, color, or national and/or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.  The school does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, disability, sex, or national and/or ethnic origin in the administration of educational policies and practices, scholarship programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs, although certain athletic leagues and other programs may limit participation.  While the school does not discriminate against students with special needs, a full range of services may not always be available to them. Decisions concerning the admission and continued enrollment of a student in the school are based upon the student’s emotional, academic and physical abilities and the resources available to the school in meeting the student’s needs.

OLG School—-A Year At A Glance

E-mail Print

What an exciting and rewarding year this has been for OLG School!!

  • We began the year with our newly remodeled offices and restrooms and the development of our new website, the posting of student grades on line, and the generation of computerized report cards.
  • Students continued to excel academically, socially, and spiritually.
  • The Christmas program, Living Stations of the Cross, May Crowning and monthly school Masses enhanced their religious growth and understanding. They were involved in many community and service projects during the year.
  • Money was raised for Habitat for Humanity and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
  • Classrooms supported seven mission families and a mission school in Ghana.
  • Student Council sponsored many activities during the year including the collection of old cell phones for soldiers, Halloween and Earth Day contests, and the “Build a Library” project for our sister school in Long Beach.
  • After the third “Heal the Bay” beach clean-up we adopted a beach.
  • The Academic Decathlon team came home with four medals and the Girls’ and Boys’ Volleyball teams went to the CYO playoffs.
  • Several Eighth grade students were accepted with Honors at Entrance at BMHS and Notre Dame Academy.
  • Graduates continued to excel in their high school years and we have the fourth high school valedictorian from OLG since 2006.

We want to thank our school and parish families for their continued support and prayers and are looking forward to another great school year.

Have you heard the news? Mrs. Kidwell is retiring at the end of this school year. After 25 years in kindergarten, this woman deserves a party!!

Please join us in celebration of the Mass at 5pm on Saturday, June 13 followed by a reception in the Hall. We know that Mrs. Kidwell would love to see so many of the former students and parents that she has had over the years. If you are unable to make the party, please consider the following:

As a surprise, we are asking as many folks as possible to send a card (maybe include a photo of you then and now or you with Mrs. Kidwell). Imagine how fun that will be for her to open up a huge box - maybe even the "Treasure Box" - full of cards of love and gratitude from the many, many people that she has known through the years. Please send your card to the school addressed to Mrs. Kidwell in care of Mrs. Carey; Our Lady of Guadalupe School, 340 Massey Street, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254. We will need to receive them by Friday, June 12th so next time you are out and about grab a card and write a note to one of the all-time greats!! Ok, if you want to go the e-mail route, please forward your note or photo to: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

If you would like to participate in a gift for Mrs. Kidwell, a scholarship has been set up in her name for her beloved OLG. Please send your donation to the Pat Kidwell Scholarship Fund at the school or Parish Office.
