Excellent Academics

The U.S. Department of Education has recognized Catholic schools for consistently ranking in the top 10% of schools in the nation for scores from 8th grade reading and math tests.  Students in Catholic schools consistently score in the top 1/3 on nationally standardized tests.  At Our Lady of Guadalupe School, students are challenged academically and teachers have high expectations for their students.  Our Lady of Guadalupe School is accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges and the Western Catholic Educational Association.  The California State Standards are followed, and students use approved textbooks.  An excellent foundation is laid for the future academic success of our students.

Faith-Based Education

Faith is something that permeates the entire learning environment at Our Lady of Guadalupe School.  We begin and end each day with prayer. Aspects of faith are integrated into every aspect of the students' day.  We strive to find the greater glory of God in every academic subject.  Students in the second through eighth grades attend Mass once during the school week.  Once a month, each grade level takes the opportunity to participate in the liturgy of the Mass that the whole school community attends.

Parental Involvement

Nationally known writer and sociologist Father Andrew Greeley has extensively researched why Catholic schools academically outperform other public and private schools.  His research shows that the greatest reason for this success rests in the fact that Catholic schools build the type of parental and family involvement that is most conducive for positive student performance.  At Our Lady of Guadalupe School, parents are encouraged to have 40 hours of parent involvement in the school and parish.  This involvement greatly assists in the formation of our faith community.

Safe, Secure, and Loving Environment

Our Lady of Guadalupe School has a safety/disaster plan to respond to possible emergencies in an effective and expedient manner.  Teachers are professional, dedicated individuals who work tirelessly to provide a holistic environment where a student’s mind, body, and spirit are nourished and cared for daily.  Each child is seen as a unique child of God.  Our Lady of Guadalupe School has a before and after school day care program available for working parents.
