Sunday, July 27, 33 of our youth came back energized to OLG after a great weekend of music, swimming, and outdoor activities in Big Bear.

OLG Youth at Big Bear

Father Bruce gave our bus a nice start Friday morning with blessing, with plenty of holy water for all!  We arrived safely for lunch at Camp Cedar Lake after a brief, 10-minute “pit stop” to allow the bus cool down after overheating. After some time relaxing, canoeing and swimming at the lake, the teens put together some awesome skits Friday evening – complete with “Happy Cows” commercial breaks – and capped off the night with evening prayers in the lodge. Saturday was a full day, starting with some challenging team-building activities in the morning. The “high ropes” courses, “Leap of Faith” and “Tarzan Traverse,” were a highlight of the weekend. Our youth climbed, jumped, and crossed out of their own comfort zones to experience the true meaning of team support. Deacon Scott joined us Saturday evening for the liturgy of the Word and an awesome homily. We send a heart-felt thanks to everyone who helped make this weekend possible – our chaperones, Deacon Scott, those who sponsored our youth on this trip, and to the OLG community for your prayers.  Peace.

Scripture of the Moment

13) Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to John, to be baptized by him. 14) John would have prevented him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?" 15) But Jesus answered him, " Let it be so now; for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness." Then he consented. 16) And when Jesus was baptized, he went up immediately from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and alighting on him; 17) and lo, a voice from heaven, saying, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased."

- Matthew 3:13-17
